100 days of startup ideas

This is the humble beginnings of my startup journey.

I want to generate some good startup ideas. From my research, I figured the key is...

Don't try. Don't look for ideas. Instead, notice the problems you have yourself.

The best startup ideas are something that:

  • yourself want
  • you can build
  • few others realize worth doing

If it is not something yourself want. At least, pick a problem that someone you're close to has.

Why?

You want to be sure the problem is real. This is critical for startups to succeed. You need to build something people want, and people only want something that can actually solve their problems.

On top of this, if it is something you can personally relate to, you'll be more motivated when you feel discouraged.

This may not be as easy as it seems. Many of us became so good at tolerating the many inconviniences and problems in life. Sometimes we don't even know these problems exist - at least not until the time when we come across a good solution and then realize that we have had the problem.

Don't you find it interesting and a bit surreal? The problems are in front of you but you're unable to see any of them.

How do we look beyond the obvious?

Perhaps, a new and different perspective to see the world.

To gain the superpower, I need to practice the muscles of my curious eyes. I need to ask more questions. This can be similar to workout or meditate, which requires repititions and disciplines.

So here's what I am going to do.

I will write down a startup idea on a near-daily basis, and I call it my 100 days of startup ideas challenge.

Most of the ideas will be bad, but I'm sure the experience will be fun.
